Next actions by context
Your home screen shows what you can do next, grouped by where you are and what tools you have. Tap a context like #computer or #errands to filter. This is the core of tingdo.
Inbox capture
Type + and a title. Hit enter. The task lands in your inbox. Project, context, and deadline can be added inline or later. Capture takes less than two seconds.
Projects
Anything that takes more than one step is a project. Projects can be nested. Each project needs a next action, or it is flagged as stalled.
Weekly review
A guided, step-by-step review. Clear your inbox, check every active project, revisit waiting-for items, look at someday/maybe. One step at a time. You cannot skip ahead.
Omnisearch
One input field that does everything. Type to search across all tasks and notes. Use + to capture, * to create a note, / to navigate projects, # to filter by context. No menus, no dialogs.
Contexts
Tags that describe where or with what you can do a task: #computer, #phone, #errands, #home. Filter your next actions by context with one tap, or type # in the search bar.
Reference notes
Non-actionable information like passwords, dimensions, or policy numbers. Create a note with * in the search bar. Notes live inside your projects alongside tasks but stay out of your action lists.
Someday/maybe
A parking lot for things you are not committed to yet. Both tasks and projects can have someday/maybe status. They stay hidden from your daily workflow and surface during the weekly review.
Waiting for
Tasks you have delegated or are waiting on someone else to complete. They have their own status and their own step in the weekly review.
Offline support
tingdo works without an internet connection. Your tasks are stored locally and sync automatically when you are back online.
Dark mode
A warm dark mode that switches automatically based on your system setting. No pure black, warm tones throughout.
Install on your phone
tingdo is a web app that you can install on your home screen. It opens in its own window, works offline, and loads instantly, supports basic phone gestures like swipe down to refresh. No app store needed.
Native Android and iOS apps are in development.
Keyboard-first on desktop
Start typing anywhere to open the search bar. Navigate results with arrow keys. Create a task and assign it to a project without touching the mouse.
No recurring tasks
A deliberate choice. Recurring tasks pile up unreviewed and create guilt. The weekly review is where you notice what needs doing again.
No priority levels
In GTD, priority is not a number. It emerges from your context, your energy, and the time you have. tingdo trusts you to make that call.
No calendar view
Next actions are organized by context, not by time. Deadlines exist for genuine deadlines only. The home screen shows what you can do, not what is due.
No subtasks
If a task needs subtasks, it is a project. This keeps your lists flat and your system honest.
No notification spam
Only genuine deadlines trigger a notification. tingdo does not nag.
